Taking you back thousands of years is Creswell Crags, a limestone gorge honeycombed with caves and rocky crags. The discovery of Britain’s only known Ice Age rock art in 2003 makes this attraction an excellent archaeological site to visit. You can also explore the caves at the City of Caves, these were cut by hand from the local sandstone in early medieval times and have been used for storage and tanning industries.

Nottingham’s Lace Market district is famous for its awe-inspiring architecture and first-rate hotels, restaurants and bars. The name derives from the 18th century when local entrepreneurs and industrialists transformed the area into a commercial capital for the lace industry with more than 130 factories based here and a large portion of the population working in the trade.  Now popular with businesses and as a residential area offering stylish apartments, the Lace Market is a busy and popular centre with some of the city’s best bars and restaurants and stores.

Did you know Nottingham was the first British city to loosen up its drinking laws? Given the fact that it also has a very high concentration of licensed premises in the city, it is easy to see why people from all over flock here on the weekends to explore the canal-side bars, Hockley, and the market square areas.
